Privacy notice.

Introduction

This Privacy Notice applies by the mere use of or access to Sello Editorial Onca Vega (hereinafter, indistinctly, the Platform), and we will therefore understand that you accept it and agree to comply with it.

If you disagree with this Privacy Notice, you must refrain from accessing or using the Platform.

Onca Vega (hereinafter, indistinctly, the Provider) reserves the right to modify this Privacy Notice at any time — see the "Changes to this notice" section below for the exact procedure.

1. Controller of your personal data

As of this notice, Onca Vega is a project operated as a sole proprietorship, without a formally registered company name or tax domicile. Marcos Vega, the imprint's founder, is the person responsible for the processing of personal data collected through the Platform.

Any change in the Provider's legal nature (for example, the incorporation of a company) will be reflected in an update to this same Privacy Notice, with its corresponding date.

2. Personal data we collect

The personal data the Provider collects depends on how the User interacts with the Platform:

  • When creating an account: name, email address, and country.
  • If the User signs in with Google: the name and email address tied to that Google account — the Provider never receives or stores the User's Google account password.
  • If the User completes their profile: an avatar image, contact links or social media, and a bio, all of which are public within the Platform.
  • If the User is an author and publishes a book: the work's details the author enters themselves (title, synopsis, cover, purchase links, among others), also public.
  • When using the contact form or the community-application request: name, email address, and the message sent.

We do not request or collect sensitive personal data (ethnic origin, health status, religious beliefs, union membership, sexual orientation, among others) in any Platform flow.

3. Purposes for processing your personal data

The personal data we collect is used for the following purposes:

  • Creating, managing, and authenticating your user account.
  • Displaying your author profile and your published books within the Platform's public catalog, where applicable.
  • Responding to your messages, community-application requests, and support inquiries.
  • Maintaining the Platform's security and preventing its misuse.

We do not use your personal data for marketing, advertising, or commercial prospecting purposes without your explicit consent, nor do we use it to build behavioral profiles for purposes other than those stated here.

4. How we protect and safeguard your data

Your personal data is stored in a cloud-managed database (TiDB Cloud), with the technical and administrative security measures that provider offers to protect the information against loss, unauthorized access, or misuse.

It's important to distinguish between two categories of your information: (a) the data you yourself choose to make public on the Platform — your author profile, your books, and their public pages — which is displayed exactly as you configured it, and (b) the data we collect to operate your account (your email address, for example), which is never displayed publicly or distributed in any way other than as described in this notice.

We do not sell your personal data to third parties under any circumstances.

5. Data transfer and data processors

To operate the Platform, we work with external providers (data processors) who process certain data exclusively on our behalf and for the specific purpose described here:

  • SuperTokens — manages the authentication and session of your account (email/password and Google sign-in).
  • Google — provides optional sign-in with your Google account, and reCAPTCHA Enterprise to prevent spam on certain forms.
  • Cloudinary — stores and optimizes the images (covers, avatars) you upload to the Platform yourself.

Each of these providers has its own privacy policy and only receives the information strictly necessary to provide its service. We do not share your personal data with third parties for advertising purposes, nor do we transfer it outside these processors unless required by law (for example, a request from a competent authority).

6. Options and means to limit the use or disclosure of your data

You can limit at any time which parts of your author profile are publicly visible (bio, links, avatar) directly from your account settings.

For any other data you cannot adjust yourself from the Platform, you can request that we limit its use or disclosure through the contact form, expressly stating your request.

7. Means to exercise your access, rectification, cancellation, or objection rights (ARCO)

You can exercise your rights to access, rectify, cancel, or object (ARCO rights) to your personal data at any time by writing to us through the Platform's contact form.

To process your request, we'll ask for the following information as a means of identification:

  • Full name of the data subject.
  • Email address tied to your account, or another means for us to communicate our response.
  • A clear description of the data you wish to exercise your rights over, and which right you wish to exercise.

We will respond to your request within a reasonable time, and if additional information or corrections to your request are needed, we'll let you know so we can process it.

8. Cookies

We use exclusively technical cookies necessary for the Platform to work: a session cookie (managed by SuperTokens) that keeps you signed in, and a language-preference cookie. We don't use advertising cookies, third-party analytics, or marketing trackers.

You can block cookies from your browser settings at any time, though this may prevent you from signing in correctly on the Platform.

9. Changes to this notice

The Provider reserves the right to modify this Privacy Notice at any time, arising among other things from new legal requirements, changes in our data-processing practices, or changes to the services we offer.

Any material change to this Privacy Notice will be published on this same page, updating the version date noted at the top of the document.
